Distractions from being present.

There was a time. People were in the present without distraction from outside influences. Using phones takes us away from the present and makes us drift away from the precious moment. It doesn’t seem much but when the years of distraction add up to a surmountable amount of time lost.

The phone becomes the companion of many and a temporary replacement for loneliness. It is amazing how much I have lost my time being on the phone.

But I do want to use my phone cautiously. This article came to be because when I went to look at my phone it had died of low battery.

Child-like curiosity and memories of when I used to wake up next to my sister when we were young came flooding.

I slept next to my sister while growing up and we were always together most of our childhood. We woke up without phones and at times no electricity.

Times when we had photo albums and cassette tapes swirling with a pencil to rewind. TV with Dish which had to be constantly moved around to receive the frequency of the waves which the channel was emitting. Tsirang was windy and the dish had to be constantly adjusted. Our screen time depended on Mother Nature. If she was pleasant we would watch for hours if not we entertained ourselves with my sister and me dancing or singing with the kerosene lamp or going to bed early.
