An astounding 30 million people suffer from an eating disorder in the United States (web. ). In the midst of trying to pursue individual goals and ambitions, our emotional and physical health can be compromised by poor dietary choices. It is easy to devalue daily meals while trying to keep up with our responsibilities and obligations. Food provides us with nourishment which we take for granted most of the time. Nutritious food keeps us alive, feeds our brains, and strengthens our immune systems. Unfortunately, people struggling to maintain their ideal body image resort to unhealthy choices like crash dieting and diet pills. Eating disorders are also associated with mental illness. People who are suffering from an eating disorder are also prone to substance abuse, which can be life-threatening in some cases. Seek help from the professionals if you do have an eating disorder. It can be treated by medical care provided with a supportive environment.
